| World at War Type 99 |
HistoryThe Type 96 Light Machine Gun, an improvement over the previous Type 11 Light Machine Gun was introduced into combat service in 1936, and quickly proved to be a versatile weapon to provide covering fire for advancing infantry. [2] Both the Type 11 and Type 96 used the same 6.5x50mm Arisaka cartridges as the Type 38 rifle infantry rifle. [3] The system had the advantage that any squad member could supply ammunition for the light machine gun; however, as the Japanese army was switching from the Type 38 rifle to the Type 99 Rifle which used a 7.7 mm cartridge, it was necessary to develop a new version of the Type 96 light machine gun that would also be able to use this larger caliber. MultiplayerDamage 85-100 (SP), 33-45 (MP) The Type 99 is good for close to medium range, it has a high rate of fire, and good damage. It is the only Machine Gun that has a bayonet. While having a high rate of fire, it also has high recoil, which makes it hard for long range shooting. The Type 99 also has the clip on top which makes it difficult to see in front of you sometimes.
