History
The Remington MSR - Modular Sniper Rifle was recently developed by the Military products division of the famous United States arms-making company, Remington Arms, to meet the requirements of the US SOCOM Precision Sniper Rifle (PSR) solicitation, first issued in early 2009. The trials of actual contenders for the US SOCOM PSR contract are scheduled to March 2010. Requirements for the PSR include effective range up to 1500 meters with accuracy not worse than 1 MOA in 10-shot groups at all ranges up to the maximum, minimum magazine capacity of 5 rounds, maximum 'combat ready' weight of 18 lbs / 8.2 kg, barrels that can be changed by operator, folding or detachable stock and a number of other desirable features. It appears that Remington MSR rifle can fullfil all these requirements, but only actual trials will show, which weapon is the best. Regardless of the SOCOM PSR results, the Remington MSR appears to be a serious tool for long-range military or LE sniper work.
Singleplayer/Spec-Ops
The MSR appears in the campaign level Iron Lady, where it is useful for picking off enemies at range in the ground-based section of the mission.
Survival Mode
The MSR costs $2000 to buy from the Weapons Armory. It is unlocked at level 7. It is not recommended past the waves of the medium troops, when it can no longer deliver one hit kills.

The MSR is unlocked at Level 66 in multiplayer. It is the very last sniper rifle to be unlocked. It is nearly identical to the L118A, but has a much faster bolt pull.

Reduces visual recoil by 50% when you are hit. Focus is very effective for SMGs and Shotguns. It is also helpful for ARs, as it can keep your shots on target when you enter a heads-up one-on-one firefight. |

Improves movement speed by 10%, or one step up on the mobility scale. Speed is an important upgrade for LMGs and Riots Shields. It is less critical for Sniper Rifles, excepting the Barret and AS50, which are heavier and slower than other Sniper Rifles. |

Reduces idle sway by 25%. Consider this to be an 'automatic' Breath for long-range combat. It is most useful on LMGs, as they need the enhanced accuracy for long-range shots, though ARs also benefit from it. |
