Modern Warfare 3 Striker

History

The Armsel Striker (also known as Sentinel Arms Co Striker-12, Protecta, Protecta Bulldog, and Cobray/SWD Street Sweeper) is a revolver 12-gauge shotgun designed for riot control and combat.

It was created in Zimbabwe by Hilton Walker in the early 1980s. Walker moved to South Africa, bringing with him the design for the Striker shotgun. His shotgun became a success, and found its way to all parts of the world. Even though it was successful, the shotgun still had its flaws. The rotary cylinder-type magazine was bulky, had a slow reload time, and the basic action was not without certain flaws.

Walker redesigned his weapon in the late 1980s, removing the cylinder rotation mechanism, and adding an auto cartridge ejection system. The new shotgun was named the Protecta.

The weapon's action is similar to that of a revolver, using a rotating magazine. Since the Striker uses a more or less conventional double action only trigger, and a very large and heavy cylinder (compared to handguns), Walker added a pre-wound clock-work spring to revolve the magazine. This proved to be a slow and ineffective way to load the weapon. The design was changed so that there is now a cocking lever on the right side of the barrel.

The first designs were criticized as having a slow and cumbersome firing mechanism. The shells having to be individually loaded and then the drum wound by a clockwork mechanism. Shell ejection was by an ejector rod along the right hand side of the barrel. The latest version has the clockwork winding mechanism removed, the ejector rod has been replaced by an automatic ejection system and in the rod's place is a cocking lever that winds the drum automatically. The Striker is somewhat unique for a shotgun because of its twelve round capacity and short overall length.

Singleplayer/Spec-Ops

The Striker is found in the level "Hunter Killer" wielded by enemies on the Russian sub.

The Striker makes an appearance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on the default multiplayer custom class 'Riot Control'. It's performance remains quite similar to its Modern Warfare 2 predecessor; having moderate-low power, high capacity, fast semi-automatic firepower and medium accuracy . It is the only semi-automatic shotgun in the game.

Kick

Kick Reduces recoil by 20%, allowing for steadier full-auto and faster recovery from shots. Modern-Warfare-3-Weapon-Kick-Proficiency

Focus

Reduces visual recoil by 50% when you are hit. Focus is very effective for SMGs and Shotguns. It is also helpful for ARs, as it can keep your shots on target when you enter a heads-up one-on-one firefight.

Attachment

Allows the use of 2 Attachments. It is a solid all-around Proficiency, useful in many situations. This Proficiency is also notably useful for stealth builds, as it allows you to use a Silencer alongside any other Attachment. The Attachment Proficiency is also helpful if you are still getting comfortable with iron sights, as it allows you to take and optical Attachment and a second utility Attachment. Melee

Grants 35% faster melee recovery. Melee can be useful if you are stalking targets with a stealth Shotgun build. With the Riot Shield, it allows you to take down targets much more quickly at close range.

Range

Offers a 25% boosted effective range. This is very useful on Shotguns, particularly the automatic variants. Some SMGs can benefit from this upgrade, as well, especially if you are intent on using medium-range optics.

Damage

Provides a significant 40% Damage boost. Damage is strong on the Shotguns that already have solid range, and very important for pump-action Shotguns that may not get a second shot.
