Deal of the Day
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Barret 50.cal

History

The Barrett M82 (with later-produced models being designated the M107) SASR (Special Application Scoped Rifle) is a semiautomatic anti-materiel sniper rifle chambered in .50 BMG. Like its predecessors, the rifle has manageable recoil for a weapon of its size owing to the barrel assembly that itself absorbs force, moving inward toward the receiver against large springs with every shot. Additionally the weapon's weight and large muzzle brake also assist in recoil reduction. Various changes were made to the original M82A1 to create the M107, with new features such as a lengthened accessory rail, rear grip and monopod socket. Barrett has recently been tasked with developing a lightweight version of the M107 under the "Anti-Materiel Sniper Rifle Congressional Program," and has already come up with a scheme to build important component parts such as the receiver frame and muzzle brake out of lighter weight materials
Due to its heavy weight and high recoil, the weapon requires its user to be in a stationary prone position with some form of support. Because of this, its use in close quarters urban situations is limited. Despite this, the size of the round not only makes for an effective weapon against light armour or cover, but it is also an extremely long-range weapon. Successful engagements at over a mile are possible.

Singleplayer

The M82 is used in the mission One Shot, One Kill to assassinate Imran Zakhaev. The M82 has full zoom and unlimited ammo.

It is one of the most powerful sniper rifles in Call of Duty 4, and is favored by many players for its sheer power and ability to neutralize enemies quickly.

It's a matter of personal preference whether you choose this or the R700 for a highest-power sniper rifle, but being semi-auto doesn't make this gun much better at closer range due to the recoil, which is a bit larger than the Dragunov's. If you want power but prefer to fire more rapidly at closer range, choose this over the R700. If you love your accuracy and headshots, choose the R700.
