Deal of the Day
Black Ops Kiparis

History

The OTs-02 Kiparis (ОЦ-02 Кипарис, Russian for "cypress") submachine gun was designed by the TsKIB SOO design bureau of Tula during the early 1970s but was not introduced into service until 1991. It is primarily intended for internal security and police units, it was adopted by the Russian police and MVD (Internal Affairs Ministry).

The OTs-02 is a blowback-operated weapon of a conventional design chambered in 9x18mm Makarov. It can fire both the standard 57-N-181S cartridge and the more powerful 57-N-181SM high-impulse round.

The receiver is made from pressed steel with a synthetic plastic pistol grip. It feeds from stamped steel detachable straight box magazines, inserted into a well in front of the trigger guard with either a 20 or 30-round cartridge capacity.

The weapon has a rudimentary steel skeletonized stock which folds up and over the receiver when folded, in such a manner that the simple base plate outline extends downwards to either side of the muzzle. The Kiparis is supplied with a proprietary sound suppressor with a service life of approx. 6,000 rounds, the same service life as the barrel. In this form the weapon is known as the OTs-02-1. The OTs-02 Kiparis can also accommodate a red dot sight or a tactical laser pointer which clips on forward of the magazine housing in such a way that the bottom of the laser aiming device can act as a forward grip during aiming.

Singleplayer/Co-Op

The Kiparis is seen in the hands of Spetsnaz exclusively, and available in a weapons cache in "Numbers." Attachments used often are Extended Mags, Dual Wield, or Reflex sight.

The Kiparis does not appear in Zombie Mode.

The Kiparis is the classified SMG, unlocked after buying all the other Submachine guns, so not before level 41. It has a twenty round magazine that empties very quickly. Although the recoil is very predictable (always up and to the right), burst-firing is necessary at mid to long range; having a Grip as an attachment can help to mitigate this.

Due to its low ammo amount and high rate of fire it is recommended to have Scavenger and Sleight of Hand with the Extended Mag attachment.

Having a sight to replace the iron-sights is optional, and up to preference, as the iron-sights on the Kiparis aren't particularly clear, but provide good peripheral vision. If Warlord is being used, having Extended Mags, and a Grip will make the weapon more useful at range, while Extended Mags and a Suppressor will transform it into a powerful stealth weapon.

The Kiparis features the same wall-penetration as Assault Rifles, a unique attribute that will make it more effective than any other SMG when shooting through cover.
