ArrayThe map features snowy terrain, similar to Summit, but it is much larger. As the name implies, Array has several or at least one large satellite dish. This map is good for medium to long range fighting due to its large size.
Berlin WallBerlin Wall is a medium-large urban snow set terrain map set in Germany with several large buildings and a "No-man's land", where indestructable automatic turrets fire at the player if they step on the territory. The "No-man's land" is highlighted in red on the mini-map to show its danger. There is also a small path in the middle of "No-man's land" which leads to both sides of the map.
Drive InDrive-In is a map that was released in the Annihilation Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. It has been said to have a similar concept to the map Nuketown, which most players enjoyed, as it appears to be very small and favors close quarters combat, but has some sniping positions. It appears to be a small city area with a bowling alley named "Galactic".
ConvoyTreyarch has said that Convoy "delivers intense, close-quarters combat at the scene of an ambushed US military convoy." The map was inspired by Cold War fears of Soviet invasion. Part of the road on this map has collapsed, allowing players to travel underground. Road signs indicate that it takes place somewhere in California. The map features a tongue-in-cheek "Drive Safely" sign in the map.
CrackedCracked is a medium sized map. It appears to be the basis for the level "Crash Site" in the single-player campaign. In the middle of the map there is one or two buildings with lots of cracked terrain.
Crisis
Crisis is a medium-sized map. Hidden missile facility in Cuba. Intense indoor and outdoor battles.
DiscoveryDiscovery is a map based around a desolate, frozen German outpost in the Arctic Circle. It also appears to be based around "Project Nova". There is a chasm in the center of the map which features a destructible ice bridge. There are also two additional ice structures that bridge the chasm that can be destroyed. It is friendly to long-range weaponry but also features a few close-quarters areas in building and at vital areas that bridge the gap between the two sides.
Hanger 18Hangar 18 is a map that was released in the Annihilation Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. It was originally a cancelled map named Area 51.
HanoiHanoi is a medium size map, with a prison and then streets outside. It is a night time map, therefore it is quite dark.
HavanaA medium size map, set in a town. There is one main street, several alleyways, and all sort of buildings.
HazardHazard is a map released in the Annihilation Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The map takes place on a golf course and is remake of Cliffside from Call of Duty: World at War. This map was originally going to be called "Golf Course" as seen in the game's files.
HotelHotel takes place in Cuba and is based around a resort, including a pool, a casino, and Elevators. The elevators only move between two floors. Each elevator has one side open on one floor and the other side open on the other.
JungleThis map is set in the Vietnam jungle and as such contains large amounts of foliage. It is categorized by David Vonderhaar of Treyarch as a "large" map, consisting partly of ruins and huts. The map caters for all types of gameplay, from ranged combat to close range and everywhere in between. "Jungle" supports all gamemodes, including all Wager Match variants.
KowloonKowloon is suited for all types of combat due to its high buildings and paths. There are two ziplines in the map that can let a player travel from one side to the other, but as noted above, anyone using them is completely exposed and cannot use their weapons while ziplining.
Launch Launch is set in a Russian cosmodrome, and features a Soyuz rocket taking off in the background. At some time during the game (set randomly), the rocket will take off, and set alight and kill anyone located beneath the rockets engines.
NuketownNuketown is the smallest map in Call of Duty: Black Ops, being slightly smaller than the Call of Duty: World at War map Dome. The map is based upon a village used to demonstrate the effects of a nuclear weapon on a residential area; mannequins as well as accessible buildings and vehicles are shown across the map.
RadiationIt is set in an abandoned power station. The map features a conveyor belt which leads to a fiery death. There is also a trap door, like a silo hatch, that can be opened and closed via a switch located some distance away. Anyone that falls into the trap door suffers a fall death. The map also features a set of steel blast doors which can only be opened by a control panel some distance away.
SiloSilo is a map that was released in the Annihilation Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Silo was originally planned to be released with Call of Duty: Black Ops, but it was scrapped before the release. It is said to be one of the biggest maps in Black Ops.
StockpileStockpile map takes place in a suburban village in Russia that includes a stockpile of arms inside one of the buildings. The map also features a building with two large steel doors that can be opened and closed with switches located next to them on both the inside and outside of the bulding. When using the switch, a siren sounds and alerts the building's occupants. This building is usually where most of the fighting occurs, and it contains the "B" flag in Domination.
SummitSummit is a narrow map with severe drops on all sides. Summit features plenty of variety when it comes to buildings and platforms. The interior of one large building in the middle is the most open area on the Summit map, with most of it made up of narrow gaps and pathways. It is a map with lots of small spaces for the player to hide in.
